I am going to work at least 3 East Central games this season. Two of them are television games for Thursday Night Lights; one at Hornet stadium Vs Southwest and the other at Lehnoff stadium in Schertz Vs the Steele Knights. The third game is at Rutledge stadium Vs the Judson Rockets. Um, I think they will get one win and that will be the Southwest game!
So, maybe my thoughts of the Hornets will change after those particular games. In order for you to know, you are going to have to read my write-ups which will be on Saturday’s and Sunday’s during the season for each specific week I work there games.
Even though I have only been to Hornet stadium a few times, I really enjoy going out there despite the far drive. They always have something cooking before the game and oh my gosh, it smells so good. The athletic staff are very hospitable and they also provide a booklet of East Central stats for the broadcasters which comes in handy much more than you would think.
The Hornets have a Senior running back named Chris Armstrong. Remember that name folks. This will be his 3rd year as a starter. Wow! His numbers for the past 2 seasons are very impressive: 354 carries for 2,724 yards and 29 touchdowns. I have a feeling this year he will achieve those numbers and possibly more!
Rotating at quarterback will be the brothers Jones’s; Christian and Jeremy Jones. I really hope that Coach Walker doesn’t alternate them after each play cause it can make a stat man and the broadcasters look and sound very bad.
Check out my previous posts for the Number 10 Kerrville Tivy Antlers, Number 9 Brennan Bears, Number 8 Judson Rockets, Number 7 O’Connor Panthers, and the Number 6 Reagan Rattlers. These are the Express News preseason rankings.
Tomorrow night, I will share my story of how I got started as a television stat man.
On Sunday, I will have my July health and exercise update.
And next Tuesday, I will share my thoughts on the number 4 team.
