Year 1…4 wins and 6 losses
Year 2…12 wins and 2 losses
Year 3…12 wins 3 losses (lost to Cibolo Steele in the playoffs)
Year 4…11 wins and 2 losses (lost to Cibolo Steele in the playoffs)
Those are some pretty amazing numbers. Wow!!! I think they have a great shot at going undefeated this year and if that happens they could be the only San Antonio team.
Brandeis is always rock solid on defense. You will hear and read the names of Joshua Lewis and Cameron Rogers a lot.
Trinton Ynclan is the offense for the Broncos. He was Mr. Do It All last season. He was the running back and when the starting quarterback got hurt, he stepped in to take the snaps. Last season, Ynclan had 290 carries for 1,901 yards with 23 touchdowns. I worked the Brandeis Vs Steele playoff game last season and man, Ynclan had 44 carries for 234 yards with 1 touchdown; that was one game!!! Never in my many many many years as a stat man has a running back ran that many times. Ynclan ran out of steam late in that Steele game.
Peter Agu-Udemba is the back up running back and I expect him to get more carries this season. I mean Ynclan is very very good, but he will have to sit out a few snaps if the Broncos want to have a long playoff run.
I will see Brandeis at least once this season as they have a game on Thursday Night Lights Vs the Stevens Falcons (Sept 27th at Gus stadium) and hopefully a few more on the Texas Sports Radio Network.
I always share my BLOG link on Facebook and recently, I have started to comment and promote my BLOG on mysa.com, but only for articles related to High School football.
I wish I had a bumper sticker or a t-shirt that says, “For a Good Time, visit marklieberman.blogspot.com!” That would be an awesome way to self promote and a really sweet motto!!!
This morning, I placed my comment and BLOG link on the mysa.com article about the Brandeis Broncos. Yes, I expect readers to look at my comment….but only a small handful will actually be brave and click on the link.
While I was at work, I got an e-mail from someone who read the mysa.com article, looked at my comment, and also clicked on my link!!! Wow, my advertising worked! I was surprised and happy! The person who e-mailed me is a colleague of mine at the bank; pretty cool and dude, what a small world? He is a football official and his son plays football for Brandeis. In the e-mail, he told me, “It’s refreshing to see someone write about SAN ANTONIO high school football with the passion you do.” He also said, ” I talk about your BLOG on 5atexasfootball.com and theoldcoachrivals.com.” And that is why I write about high school football!
Next Tuesday, I will publish my thoughts on the Number 3 team as ranked in the preseason by the Express News. Will it be Smithson Valley or Madison? I already have a gut feeling of who Number 1 will be. I got some great stories that involve police officers, road trips, exciting playoff games, and a runaway golf cart for the remaining 3 teams.
Check out my previous posts for the Number 10 thru Number 5 teams as ranked by Express News for the preseason rankings:
Number 10 Kerrville Tivy Antlers
Number 9 Brennan Bears
Number 8 Judson Rockets
Number 7 O’Connor Panthers
Number 6 Reagan Rattlers
Number 5 East Central Hornets
