I was actually planning on publishing pictures from the game instead of my words, but I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the pictures. We were in an enclosed booth with a very dirty window. One of my pictures included a piece of scotch tape that was on the window; I am serious!! Plus, my flash and reflection kept appearing in all the pictures. Maybe someone who reads this can help me with my digital camera; it is an Olympus FE5010 12 million megapixels (what the heck does that mean?) and I have it set on automatic which means it knows what to do when I take a picture!!! Hell, I don’t even know how to turn the flash off!!! Help me! I will post the pictures that came out OK at the end of this article; no photo shopping!
Man, driving to the stadium from work was 30 miles on “the death loop” aka Loop 1604 !!! I missed a turn from 1604 (I was talking to my wife and was easily distracted by her voice) so I had to activate the GPS on my Tab and she set me straight in the proper direction which was curvy and to the left! I wasn’t really distracted, I wrote down FM 3431 instead of FM 3432!! Not a good start for a stat man!!!
Fans were in there seats when I arrived which was about 90 minutes before kick-off; probably cause it was either parents night or seniors night…there were about 30 minutes of player and parent introductions.
I grabbed a few slices of cold pizza at the production truck…it was food and I was hungry (I like to eat)…so I shoved it down my throat. At halftime, I ate 3 mini Jason’s Deli sandwiches and they were yummy!!! The kind folks at East Central always have food, drinks, and deserts for all the people in the press-box. Even though I really love food, I have lost about 20 pounds since April. I am eating less (if you can believe that) and more healthy (I screwed up with the pizza and sandwiches; I know not healthy…but so what).
I was exercising several times a week at Planet Fitness, but with football 3 nights a week, that is basically at a standstill. I will get back on my exercise regiment when football season ends…that will be my new year’s resolution!!!
Both of these teams have a really good running back who are not household names like Marquis Warford from Madison, Trinton Ynclan from Brandeis, Jarveon Williams from Judson, and Adonis Hulbert from Jay.
Southwest has Erin Mack and East Central has Chris Armstrong.
This was my first time this season seeing Mack and I saw Chris Armstrong in Week 3 when the Hornets played the Judson Rockets, but unfortunately, Chris was injured and didn’t play.
I was expecting a close game with both Mack and Armstrong to have huge rushing numbers. Well, my expectations fell very short as the Hornets crushed the Dragons and neither had huge rushing numbers; kinda disappointing!
Erin Mack, the Southwest running back, had 23 carries for 123 yards; no touchdowns!! Jaedon Johnson had 2 receptions and both were amazing touchdown catches in the back of the end zone.
Chris Armstrong, the East Central running back, played but was still recuperating from his injury, only had 3 carries for 56 yards and 1 touchdown! What injury? Jonathan Jackson had 12 carries for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns. Javion Polk had 17 carries for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wanya Ward scored on a 49 yard touchdown from what looked like was a fake punt!! As a team, the Hornets had 47 carries for 468 yards and 8 touchdowns. Wow!!! I really like the Hornets running game; gotta give credit to the offensive line!!!
The numbers on the Hornets players were very easy to read, unlike in Week 3 when I had no fucking clue what player had the ball!!! Crap, next Thursday on TNL they visit Schertz to take on the Steele Knights so I get there awful road uniforms again…shit!! I am gonna be a busy man that night as it is not only a TV game for me, but it will also be on the Texas Sports Radio Network. So, I will be pulling double duty…hey, maybe I will get double paid!!!
If anyone is going to beat Steele, I would not be shocked at all if were the East Central Hornets. Should be a thrilling and packed house game!!! I can’t wait!
This afternoon, I will be at the Alamodome for UTSA football as they host San Jose State. I am the stat man for the Spanish broadcast which can be heard on Radio Formula Network’s K272EK 102.3 FM and KBRN 1500 AM and also online at radioformulasa.com.
Final Score
Southwest 21 (4-3, 1-1)
East Central 52 (5-2, 2-0)
