Well, they chose BOTH!!!
They resigned Tiago Splitter to a 4 year/$36 million contract. Man, $9 million a year for a smart big man who knows the Spurs system. I kinda think this was a tad too much and I guess the Spurs didn’t want to see him playing for another team. I really want to see Tiago work on his mid-range jump-shot and free throws; I would love to see him knock those down at a high percentage.
They also resigned Man Ginobili to a 2 year/$14 million ontract. He took a 50% pay decrease which shows you how much he loves playing for the Spurs. Despite his struggles last season and also in the playoffs, Manu is a competitor (definitely a first ballot Hall of Famer) and I for one and am so glad he didn’t choose retirement!!
They didn’t waive Matt Bonner to save some money. Hey, I like Matt Bonner…you never hear him complain and he does his job of hitting 3-pointers.
They signed free agent Marco Belinelli to a 2 year/$6 million contract. I am getting him and Andres Nocioni mixed up!!!
They signed free agent Jeff Pendergraph to a 2 year contract. Who is this guy?
The Spurs and Gary Neal have yet to make a decision on Neal’s future. The last rumor I read was the Spurs may keep him but that can change by the time I finish this sentence. If he does stay with Spurs, I will like that move…Gary is a very confident sharp shooter and I would rather him be on my team than any other with a chance to burn the Spurs.
I know the summer of 2015 is light-years away, but you gotta start thinking about it now!!! The only player under contract will be Tiago Splitter!!! Let’s hope the Spurs lock up Kawhi Leonard soon for many years down the road!!! The BIG 3 of Tim, Tony, and Manu, who have won 3 championships together, contracts all come to an end that summer as well!!! What will happen?
Tim is probably gonna retire and Manu will likely join him!! Coach Gregg Popovich may also choose to retire. Pop and Tim are easily first ballot Hall of Famers!!! It is gonna be really weird sad watching a Spurs game without Tim, Manu, and Pop. I mean, those guys (along with David Robinson) took this franchise to a whole new level!!!
Not sure about Tony. I mean, he will get some lucrative offers from other teams, but I really hope he finishes his career in San Antonio.
Dwight Howard, when healthy, is one of the top centers in the NBA but he has really pathetic public relations skills. Although he did do something correct…NO LIVE PRESS CONFERENCE TO ANNOUNCE WHERE HE WOULD SIGN!!! Did anybody in the Rockets organization ask James Harden about Dwight cause I don’t know if Harden is willing to give up shots for Howard. And, how does one time wonder Jeremy Lin feel about this? I am not giving the Houston Rockets a championship (all the teams in the West have improved)…they still gotta beat the Spurs, the Thunder, the Warriors, the Lakers, and the Grizzlies in the West. WOW!!!
I can’t wait for October!!! Actually more like January cause in October, I will be smack dab in the middle of HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL and that monster (don’t worry, it is a nice, happy, and excited monster) takes over my body till the week before Christmas. That’s normally when the state championship games are played and I hope they are at Reliant stadium in Houston or the Alamodome in San Antonio. The past 3 years Cowboys stadium in Arlington has been the last destination for High School football.
I thought this was about the San Antonio Spurs..how the hell did High School football get into this? Oh well, it is my blog and I can do whatever I want!!!
I am telling you know that I am gonna be on the Brooklyn Nets bandwagon. They got Jason Kidd as the head coach (he was a very smart player) and future hall of famers in Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. Oh, they also got a very talented point guard in Deron Williams and signed Andrei Kirilienko as a free agent. How can I forget they also have Jason Terry (spurs fans dislike Terry) to fuel the bench. Dang, they are gonna be a fun team to watch.
