Finally we got football weather as it was cold, windy, and rainy and thank god I had some hot food from Dickeys BBQ on FM 78. Thank you Dickeys for catering all of the Judson home games. Yall rock!!!
Normally in weather like that, I don’t like to hang banners, but I braved it folks and hung the radio banner and let me tell I wire tied it pretty darn good as I wasn’t going to let it snap off and escape. I am a master banner hanger!!!
I have worked all the Judson games this season and absolutely love the prolific ROCKET passing game!!! But, last week, the passing game had 87 yards and the running game had 261 yards…that was definitely throwback old school Judson football!!
The Warren Warriors are led by quarterback Jordan Sneed. Sneed has over 2,00 yards passing and 700 yards running. Yep, a dual threat!!! He, along with wide receiver, Mark January, were my Week 5 players of the week.
I think I need to lower my expectations because I was expecting a shoot-out offensive explosion with the Rockets winning. Well, the first half was super close as Judson led 14 to 8, but in the 2nd half the Rockets scored 36 points and Warren only scored 7 more. I will do the math (crunching numbers is my job)…the Judson Rockets defeated the Warren Warriors 50 to 14. WOW!!!
The Warren Warriors ran 84 plays for 220 yards (but folks, they only had 16 yards in the 2nd half). Jordan Sneed, the quarterback, had 5 carries for 26 yards and was 1 for 2 passing for 20 yards. Not normal Sneed-like numbers but that was only in a half of the first quarter as he got hurt and didn’t play the rest of the game. Had he been healthy, I really think the score would’ve been much closer.
That must’ve sucked big time for Jordan and the Warriors…gosh, I felt bad for Jordan. His back-up, Christopher Casias, kept his cool and never looked flustered even after sack after sack after sack by the Rockets defense. Casias had 23 carries for -43 yards.
Aedric Robinson, a Junior Warren running back, had a very impressive 28 carries for 121 yards and 1 touchdown. Dude, he had some really good numbers for the season…179 carries for 1,168 yards and 17 touchdowns. He will be one to watch next season.
The Judson Rockets ran 57 plays for 387 yards. Just like last week, the passing game was held under 100 yards…but, the running game was superb again as they ran 44 times for 315 yards for 5 touchdowns.
Brandon Sanders – 9 carries for 113 yards
Jo’Von Kyle – 8 carries for 82 yards
Rayjohn Austin-Ramsey – 8 carries for 36 yards and 1 touchdown
Malik Pryor – 6 carries for 24 yards and 2 touchdowns
Andre Wilson – 3 carries for 3 yards and 1 touchdown
Malik Taylor – 2 carries for 8 yards
Mi’kel Jackson – 2 carries for 4 yards
Weston Vecasy – 2 carries for 17 yards and 1 touchdown
Cameron Johnson – 1 carry for 15 yards
Nick Ortiz – 1 carry for 0 yards
Dominique Ramsey – 1 carry for 10 yards
Andre Wilson also had 3 receptions for 49 and 1 touchdown and a 60 yard punt return for a touchdown. Andre had several great moves to fake defenders and just has a knack for the end-zone.
Gosh, when the Rockets get the passing game going again, they will be unbeatable!!!
The Judson Rockets will play the Laredo United Longhorns next Friday @ Cabaniss stadium in Corpus Christi at 2:00 pm. I will be there and can’t wait!!! I think we may also have the Steele game afterwards at same venue and if so, that would be an awesome doubleheader!!!!!!!!!!!
Laredo United is 10 and 2. The Longhorns two losses came to Reagan and Smithson Valley.
They average 279 yards passing per game and 162 yards rushing per game. The quarterback, Derek Esparza, has 3,162 yards passing with 35 touchdowns and 7 interceptions and he also has 161 carries for 864 yards with 13 touchdowns. That is one total touchdown more than Reagan Rattler quarterback, Ty Summers. WOW!!!
Essayus Paulson, the running back, has 169 yards for 887 yards with 10 touchdowns.
Eric Corona, one of the many wide receivers utilized by Laredo United, leads the team with 71 receptions for 1,184 yards and 12 touchdowns.
