I say almost because San Antonio has a triple header of All-Star games coming to the Alamodome on January 4th.
Let’s pack the dome with 60,000!!! You can purchase tickets at Ticketmaster or the Alamodome box office. I believe that one ticket will get you in for all 3 games!!! That is what I call a “super mega high school football deal!”
The answer is NO? Oh, the question…Am I getting paid to write this article by any of the sponsors? All I want is 1,000 RETWEETS and recognition for my blog!!! Yep, I will be Tweeting this to as many football and sports people that I can possibly think of. Odds are you’re one of them!!!
The first game at Noon is the US Army All American Bowl. I am planning to watch this game as a FAN!!! This game is on national television on NBC and a lot of the participants will be announcing where they will be attending college. I used to work this game with the Texas Sports Radio Network and although I don’t remember the last time I worked it (I do have the programs from the games stashed in my sports archives), some of the players have made it to the NFL and that is awesome…Vince Young, Ted Ginn Jr, DeSean Jackson, and Terrelle Pryor just to name a few.
After that game is the San Antonio High School All-Star football game and I will be doing stats since it will be on CW35. This game is normally in May (check out my recap from the game last May), but it has been moved up and I think that is a great idea as the players will be in football shape and not summer beach shape!!!
I will finally get the opportunity to see Hunter Rittimann from Johnson, Kash Knutson from Reagan, and Ramon Richards from Brackenridge. Some of the smaller schools like Antonian, Lytle, Cornerstone, Holy Cross, Poteet, Sabinal, Somerset, Central Catholic, Cole, La Vernia, and San Antonio Christian have All-Stars and it is always cool to see them play with and against the bigger schools. In 2012, a player from St. Anthony stood out. I am the “unofficial writer” for St. Anthony Yellow Jacket High School basketball…the next game I will be attending is Jan 8th at Judson.
I can’t wait to see Jeremy Sanchez from Burbank, Sean Eddington from Warren, Caid Frankowiak from East Central, Zach Sterling from San Marcos, Cody Ennis and Byron Daniels from Madison, Justin Stockton, Matt Moen, and Josh Malin from Steele, Garrett Smith from Smithson Valley, Andre Wilson from Judson, Brandon Ramon from Harlandale, Larry Stephens from Brandeis, Grant Watanabe and Josh Luna from Brennan, Dimitri Flowers from Churchill, Brandon Valle from Clark, Zach Galindo from O’Connor, and Tyler Ahrens from Kerrville Tivy all play one final game!!! Dang, I am so excited…I just can’t help it!!!
And, the last game is the International Bowl (Europe VS British Columbia). To be honest, I don’t know anything about this game and I may hang out and watch the first quarter to learn more.
Unfortunately, some of the participants don’t have scholarships yet but the good thing is there will be bunch of scouts at the games!!!
So, if you have no plans on that Saturday, come to the Dome and you will see the best players from all around the 50 states (click here for a list of the players) and it will also be the last time to see you your favorite players from San Antonio (click here for a list of the players). Again, you can purchase tickets at Ticketmaster or the Alamodome box office. I look forward to seeing you there.
On Thursday and Friday, I will have my 2013 High School football WRAP-UP BLOG…yep, 2 parts because I got a lot of stuff to write about. Part 1 is about Judson Football, the Games of the Year, and of course Alamo stadium (this actually got me on TV) and Part 2 is about players.
And, on Monday, I will have my last blog for 2013!!!
