Week 1 of the 2016 TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL season starts tonight and up until last Friday, I was really looking forward to being the statistician for Thursday Night Lights in San Antonio. I am not regretting my decision to step away.
It is strange for to be home tonight (because I have been a statistician since 1997). And, at the same time, I am enjoying being home because I get to be with my almost 4 month old son and wife. I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world.
To be honest, since he was born in May, I haven’t been in the zone for high school football. The little dude has pre-occupied my life and I am OK with that. Whatever free time I have had has been focused on my wife, son, and thedadspeaks.com. Yes, folks, I am a daddy blogger.
But, I will promise that when the school bell rings at 4:00 pm for me tomorrow (I meant work not school and I don’t have a bell…I just get up and go), I will be ready for St. Anthony football. If you are at any of the games I will be covering this season, please feel free to introduce yourself to me….I don’t bite (unless you have food in your hand).

Oh, in addition to being an enthusiastic writer, I am also a published photographer and will share all of my photos (hey, I have a 32 GB memory card which basically means that I can take a lot of photos with a real camera, not my camera phone).
Tomorrow night I will be at St. Gerard as they host the St. Anthony Yellow Jackets.
Well, that is all I got for now. The baby is ready for bed so that means I am also because he sleeps on me. What a wonderful feeling?
