This year, I covered St. Anthony football games and when the San Antonio Express News and TAPPS unveiled their All-District teams, I was totally expecting to see several familiar names representing TAPPS District 2-1.
Well, I was very disappointed when nobody from St. Anthony was selected. Just because they withdrew from TAPPS earlier this month, they still played 10 games and 3 of those were against Antonian, Brownsville St. Joseph, and Central Catholic in TAPPS District 2-1; they went 6 and 4; and they did all this under a 1st year head coach.
Basically, that decision to leave TAPPS never should’ve been factored in the All-District teams; but, I have a feeling that it was and you know something, that sucks!!! I can’t even imagine how the St. Anthony football players feel by not being recognized for everything they did this season.
I did get a Tweet from the St. Anthony football team showing several players were named to the TAPPS All-District 2-1 team, but that came out around the same time that they withdrew from TAPPS. And, now that list that had those particular St. Anthony football players has vanished and been replaced with players from Antonian, Brownsville St. Joseph, and Central Catholic. I wonder why?
So, now, I am pleased to announce (ON MY WEBSITE) the following St. Anthony football players who were (at one point) recognized by TAPPS:

LB – Kyle Davila (Junior)
