Yeah, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t make it, but hey, I was there in 2010 and 2011 with the Steele Knights…they won in 2010 and lost in 2011.
Well, enough about me…let’s talk BEAVERS and BEARS. Man, that sounds like a really dirty joke!!

Wellington Skyrockets 42
Falls City Beavers 20
How did we get to such a lopsided score?
Falls City took the opening kickoff and marched right down the field and took a 6-0 lead on a Justin Twine touchdown…the 2 point conversion failed.
After that it was all Skyrockets. Falls City running back Justin Twine took a helmet to the thigh early in the second quarter and was never the same. Wellington went to the locker room with a 14-6 lead at the half.
The Skyrockets received the 2nd half kickoff and never looked back. They were fueled by RB Terry Gilbreath who had 25 carries for 165 yards with 3 touchdowns and QB Klark Ashmore who was 8 of 11 passing for 77 yards with 2 touchdowns and he also had 20 carries for 90 yards and 1 touchdown.
Falls City finished the game with 3 turnovers (one returned for a 28 yard touchdown) and that seemed to take the wind out of their sails. Combine that with the outstanding effort against Teneha last week and the Beavers just looked tired. Wellington for the most part had their way with Falls City and took advantage of the turnovers.
A successful season fell one game short. Good job Beavers.

Denton Guyer Wildcats 31
Brennan Bears 14
Just some quick stats from this game:
Jerrod Heard, Denton Guyer quarterback – 9 of 9 passing for 95 yards with 1 touchdown and 22 carries for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns. He will playing at UT Austin next year and I think he can turn that team around immediately.
Da’Shawn Key, Brennan quarterback – 8 of 15 passing for 123 yards and 17 carries for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns. Key will be a senior next year!!!
Thanks a bunch Craig for the Falls City article…I really appreciate it.
I also want to thank @padillapoll, @dctf, @texashsfootball, @txprepsfootball, @mysahighschools, and all the Retweets from these Twitter handles for the scoring and stat updates all weekend long; that was awesome! It was as if I watching the games live, but I wasn’t. The only game I did watch was the Brennan Bears but I still stayed in touch with Twitter throughout that game.
Twitter is a pretty cool tool in 140 characters or less and I may not always have something to say or a post a picture of a cat, but when I do, it is uncensored!!! So, follow me on Twitter @mdlblog!!! Wow, that is my cheesy way of promoting me and my blog in this article. OMG, I love CHEESE…mmmm, Colby Jack!! I better stop writing now cause I am making myself hungry for something cheesy!!!!
