Ok, I was not expecting to see the Warren team that scored 10 points and I knew that Holmes wouldn’t give up without a fight till the bitter end. Well, this game was a BLOW-OUT in favor of the Warren Warriors as the final score was 56 to 6…yeah, I expected that to happen!!! I was very happy that Holmes scored a touchdown….I mean, dude, it must be very tough to be on the losing side of a lop-sided score and also to be shut-out.
Chris Saucedo, the Holmes quarterback, had 18 carries for 71 yards.
The Warren Warriors had 4 players over 100 yards and each of those players also had 2 touchdowns.
Quarterback Jordan Sneed was 9 for 9 passing for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns. Yes, a perfect game and Sneed only played the first half. Wide receiver, Mark January caught caught 7 of those balls from Sneed for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns. Aedric Robinson, the running back, had 10 carries for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. And, lastly, another running back, Aaron Andazola, had 18 carries for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns. WOW!!!
You know something, I don’t get the opportunity to watch defensive players but one that I would definitely give up my spot in the press-box for a seat in the stands is Trey Lealaimatafao. Trey is committed to the University of Texas…he is 6’0 and weighs 300.
I have yet to see Clark, Jay, Taft, and Marshall, but I feel that right now, the top 3 teams in District 27-5A are Brandeis, O’Connor, and Warren. Four teams make the playoffs and I have a feeling that last slot will be a dogfight till the end of Week 10!!!
So, last Friday, I was featured in a KSAT 12 news story about my Alamo stadium renovation photos.
Don Harris, the play-by-play commentator, was previewing our game for next week which will be at the Spring Sports complex and he mentioned my Alamo stadium renovation photos!! Sweet…more publicity!!!
Just so you know, the Spring Sports complex and the Wheatley Heights Sports complex are the stadiums where the SAISD schools are playing since Alamo stadium won’t be ready for football till next season.
As Don was plugging me, I was updating stats on my stat board and the laptop but I had a HUGE smile on face and I gave Don a “Thumbs Up”! I heard Don say, “Mark, wave to the camera!” I looked around and was like which camera; so I glanced at the TV monitor and saw myself, so I did a quick wave and then went right back to updating stats!!! Holy crap, I have now been on TV twice in the past week and I like it!!!
Actually, I think it was 3 times as I thought I saw myself during the closing credits just looking around while Chuck was waving his hands in the air to the beat of the song playing in the background. Yep, nobody is safe with TV cameras all around us!!!
Now, I just gotta bug the TV producers and get them to show some of my Alamo stadium renovation photos at the game next week!!!
Last night, I was at Lehnoff stadium for a District 27-4A game between the undefeated Clemens Buffaloes and the one loss Lockhart Lions. It has been a long time since I worked a Clemens game and this was first time seeing Lockhart. The Lockhart Lions run the wishbone offense which makes me and the the broadcasters look bad cause it is kinda like and hide and seek when they run the ball…you really have to pay attention to the quarterback and not get caught watching the cheerleaders.
Working a game at Lehnoff stadium is always awesome for me as you can open the windows in the press-box and hear the fans roar and the vantage point is much closer to the action than any other press-box in the area. The only bad thing about Lehnoff stadium is the press-box isn’t air conditioned…yes, there are fans, but I want more (hey, I live in San Antonio)!!!
Man, the game last night flew by so quickly…it was over at 9:40 pm!!! But, we couldn’t leave as we do a live scoreboard show at 10:30 pm. To fill time, we actually had the Clemens head coach, Jared Johnston come to us for a long post game interview.
The Clemens Buffaloes remain one of the very few undefeated teams in the area as the beat Lockhart by a score of 23 to 0. Yeah, even though it was a shut-out, it was a really fun game to watch cause it was all old school…hard nose defense and lots of running plays!!!
The Lockhart Lions ran the ball 52 times for 166 yards. CJ Mckinney had 17 carries for 58 yards and Curtis Hawkins had 17 carries for 63 yards. The Lions did bite themselves quite often with penalties as they had 11 for 95 yards. They attempted 5 passes and completed 1!!
The Clemens Buffaloes ran a a total of 47 plays for 22 yards…they really struggled offensively in the 2nd half (16 plays for 28 yards and 2 first downs).
The leading running back stat wise was Kameron Baker (who is a FRESHMAN). He had 8 carries for 59 yards and 2 touchdowns. His first 2 carries were touchdowns…he was impressive. Jeremy Collins, a running back, had 8 carries for 54 yards and another running back, Kristian Carmona, had 11 carries for 45 yards and 1 touchdown. The Clemens quarterback, JJ Elkins, was 5 for 10 for 47 yards and 1 interception.
This afternoon, I will be attending a St. Anthony Yellow Jacket football game at the University of the Incarnate Word. I was invited by Diana Rybczynski, the mother of running back Marc Rybczynski. Marc was on the basketball team last season and I attended several games and wrote about it. The starting quarterback, Brandon Armstrong, was also on the basketball team.
You know something, I am really looking forward to this game as I am not planning to use my TSRN media pass to gain free entry nor am I going to do stats. I want to be a fan and experience it as a fan. Oh, it is also homecoming for St. Anthony so that will be fun to see.
On Thursday, I will be at the Spring Sports complex for the Jefferson Mustangs and the Lanier Voks.
Friday, I will be at D W Rutledge stadium for the Hammer Bowl as the Judson Rockets host the Wagner Thunderbirds. You can throw out the records for both teams because this game is for bragging rights!! I expect a full house so arrive early!!!
And, on Saturday I am taking the day off to celebrate our 3 year Wedding Anniversary. It is actually on Thursday, but I don’t want to miss a TNL game and there is no way I am missing the Hammer Bowl on Friday.
Yeah, football is more important than my marriage (don’t tell my wife please)!! I know I am not alone in that sentiment; back me up on this one all of my married High School Football readers? But as soon as High School football season is over, I go back to being a loving husband to a beautiful sweet wife and the word “High School football” won’t get me as excited as it normally does!
