I hope I wasn’t the only Spurs fan saying who the hell is this kid, Andrew Goudelock? Everytime I heard his last name, I though the announcers were saying, KNOBLAUCH!! I was like the only Knoblauch I know is Chuck Knoblauch who played baseball for the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees.
Why can’t Metta World Peace be a normal human being and go back to being called Ron Artest?
Lastly, what the heck was Dwight Howard thinking or saying when he picked up his 2nd technical foul in Game 4 and ended up being ejected? Dwight is one of the top players in the NBA, but it is all about him!!! I mean, he demanded a trade out of Orlando and only he knows where he will be next year.
I am very glad we won the series and we didn’t suffer any major injures cause now the team can rest and wait for the next opponent. Hopefully Boris and Tiago will be ready to play.
And, man, the BIG 3 (Tim, Tony, and Manu) for the Spurs played fantastic (Manu is getting healthy) and the defense looked like the defense of the Spurs championship years…wow!!! Dude, the role players looked sharp…Tracy McGrady even saw some action in Game 4 in the 4th quarter.
Winning an elimination game on the road in a very hostile environment (with super celebrities booing every move you make) is what makes up a champion!!! And, to win in a blowout game…wow!!!

So, do I want to see Denver or Golden State in the next round? I will pray to the “basketball gods” for a 7 game series and lots of overtime games (cause the winner will be tired)!!!
The Denver Nuggets got a former Spur as there head coach in George Karl and they got an outstanding point guard in Andre Miller and a tremendous athlete in Andre Igoudala. Miller is a former Utah Ute and in 1998, the Utes and Miller played in the Alamodome for the NCAA Championship. Miller has always been an underrated point guard…you never hear his name mentioned with the Tony Parkers or the Chris Pauls!!
The other Andre, Andre Igoudala, is a beast of a scoring machine and a former Arizona Wildcat. The Wildcats always produce really good NBA players…I am talking about former Spur and Spurs TV analyst Sean Elliot!! I love listening to Sean and Bill Land on the Spurs broadcasts…man, they get just as excited as I do!!! I wish they could do the national TV Spurs games. Gosh, I could very easily write a book about Sean Elliott.
The Wildcats also produced Steve Kerr, former Spur and Bull!!! Gosh, I could write a book on Kerr!
The Warriors have some very good young talented players…Stephen Curry (his Dad Dell played for the Charlotte Hornets), Harrison Barnes, Klay Thompson, and Jarrett Jack. They got a former number 1 pick in the NBA draft in Andrew Bogut and a former Spur in Richard Jefferson (and he also played for the Arizona Wildcats).
I remember watching Dell Curry when he played for the Charlotte Hornets (1988-1988)! In 1988, I was 11 years old and Charlotte was playing there first year in the NBA (the Miami Heat were also in year 1 that year).
Curry was a sharp shooter (his son Stephen is also a sharp shooter). Dell was very fortunate that he got to play alongside some of great ex NBA’ers like Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, Rex Chapman, Johnny Newman, Hersey Hawkins, Muggsy Bogues (he was 5’3), Glen Rice, Vlade Divac, Anthony Mason, JR Reid (we know him Spurs fans), David Wesley, and the late Bobby Phills. Gosh, I could very easily write a piece an each of these players.
I gotta thank the Sporting News 2006-2007 Official NBA Guide for helping me research all those names. This is a great publication for NBA stats but unfortunately, this was the last year it was published cause I was probably the only one who bought it!!! It is full of numbers and me being a stat man, this is some great bathroom reading!!
OK, Spurs fans, how well do you remember the 2005-2006 NBA season? Well, I am gonna cheat and use my book!!! The Spurs won 63 games and lost 19 and lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Miami Heat won the Championship in 6 games over the Dallas Mavericks. The leading scorer during the season was Kobe Byrant (he scored 81 points during 1 game) and Steve Nash led the league in free throw percentage and assists!! Whose laughing now Steve and Kobe?
Tim, Tony, and Manu were on that Spurs team along with Michael Finley, Bruce Bowen (ESPN NBA commentator), Nazr Mohammed (he plays for the Chicago Bulls), Brent Barry (NBA TV commentator), Nick Van Exel, Robert Horry, Beno Udrih, Rasho Nesterovic, Sean Marks, Melvin Sanders, Fabricio Oberto, and Alex Scales. Gosh, I could very easily write a piece an each of these players. Eight years later, Tim, Tony, and Manu are still on the team and that is pretty amazing and somewhat rare these days.

Do I want late games on West coast or altitude issues? Hmmm, I would rather have the altitude issues cause I can’t stay up to watch a ball game that starts at 9:30 and doesn’t end till after midnight!!! Plus, I think Denver has less weapons to worry about than the Warriors.
With the season ending injury to Oklahoma City Thunder guard, Russell Westbrook, that really helps the Spurs. But, man, that really sucks for Thunder fans. And, I feel bad for Russell!!
The NBA Championship may come down to the 2 teams who are healthiest.
