The Cinderella Johnson Jaguars

The Cinderella Johnson Jaguars

In my Week 11 – The Playoffs BLOG, I told you there will be a “Cinderella” team that shocks everybody and holy crap, that team just happens to be in San Antonio, TX…the JOHNSON JAGUARS.

They beat the Smithson Valley Rangers in Week 11….the rangers were undefeated!!

They beat the Brandeis Broncos in Week 12…this was the game where Johnson showed the state of Texas, we are for real!!

They beat Laredo Alexander in Week 13…this was Valley Week and those valley teams just don’t have the speed or athleticism to keep up with the San Antonio teams.

Last Night, they beat the Steele Knights.  The Knights won the state championship in 2010, lost the state championship in 2011, and last year lost in the state semi-finals to the Katy Tigers.  I was totally expecting Steele to beat Johnson and have the rematch against Katy next week.  WOW!!!

The Texas Sports Radio Network in San Antonio probably won’t be covering Madison or Johnson next week; however, we still got the Brennan Bears (they play Friday at Reliant stadium) and the Falls City Beavers (they play Friday at Waco ISD stadium).   Right now, those two teams may be TSRN’s ticket to Arlington in 2 weeks for a state championship.

I haven’t worked any Johnson games this season, but in the back of my head, I am thinking of driving to Reliant stadium next Saturday to watch them play Katy as a FAN!!!

So, it looks like, the Judson and Madison game from Friday night was my last game of this season.  I will be working the San Antonio High All Star football game at the Alamodome on January 4th and it will be televised on CW35.

I also never would have thought that the last two 5A teams from San Antonio still playing would be the Johnson Jaguars and the Madison Mavericks!!!  WOW!!!

And, Madison high school is in backyard (well, not really, but the school is really close to us) and I drive by Johnson high school everyday on my way to work!!!

Man, if Johnson finds a way and beats Katy, that will be the playoff upset of the year and possibly one of the worst losses for the Katy Tigers.  Oh, Katy won the state championship last year!!!
